Once your dispute is received, the company generally has 30 days to investigate under the Fair Credit Reporting Act — up to 45 days if you send extra information during the investigation. You should get a written response describing the outcome.
If there is no response, follow up in writing with a copy of your certified-mail receipt, dispute the same information directly with Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, and consider filing a complaint with the CFPB and your state attorney general. Keep every response in one file.
